According to multiple reports, Israel’s intelligence has received reports about a potential assassination attempt from Iran targeting US President Donald Trump.
Israel subsequently shared the intelligence with the US, which was already investigating such threats. But according to Jerusalem, this concerns a specific plot engineered by Iranians. American authorities are now verifying the information.
Washington Remains ‘Committed’ to Negotiations
Earlier this week, American president Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran established after the Islamabad MoU is over. While Abbas Araghchi also hinted that the any ceasefire violations will “result in the complete halt of all diplomatic processes”.
So, many thought that all diplomatic communication between both countries was over. But according to a senior official from the US government, the former remains ‘committed’ to negotiations with technical talks currently underway. However, other details about the current negotiations were not disclosed.

Last month, Israel and Lebanon signed a trilateral framework agreement in Washington, with the US being the third member of the treaty. Since then, Israel has violated the ceasefire multiple times. Now, Lebanese president Joseph Aoun met with the country’s army commander Rodolphe Haykal to discuss “the security situation in the country in general and in the south in particular, in light of the ongoing Israeli attacks on a number of southern villages and towns”.
There was also a post from Aoun’s office about the discussion which stated “The discussion also addressed the ongoing preparations to implement what is contained in the framework formula in the designated experimental areas, where the Lebanese Army is expected to deploy concurrently with the Israeli withdrawal”. In the past, Israel has stated that it is targeting Southern Lebanon due to Hezbollah and has no issues with the government.
Vessels Transiting Via Strait of Hormuz Despite Tensions
The Strait of Hormuz has been a key point of conflict throughout the war. This week, the Iranian navy launched multiple attacks on ships and vessels, which prompted Trump to declare that the ceasefire is over.
Now, latest ship tracking data has shown that vessels and ships have resumed transit in the Strait of Hormuz after a brief halt. Some current vessels in the waterway include GasLog Shanghai (operated by Greek shipping company GasLog), and QatarEnergy-linked carriers Al Samriya, Al Dafna, Al Gattara, and Al Rayyan. And 22 vessels, linked to Japan exited the Strait of Hormuz from July 7 to July 9, with the Japanese Transport Minister Yasushi Kaneko sharing the figure in a recent press conference.

The funeral of Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrapped up earlier today. The funeral formally started last Saturday and included delegations from multiple Iranian allies including Hamas and Islamic Jihad from Gaza, Hezbollah from Lebanon and the Houthis from Yemen.
Ceremonies took place across five cities: Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad. Now Iranian media has claimed that Khamenei’s funeral procession is “the largest procession the world has ever witnessed”. One report also claimed that 43 million people attended the funeral, though the figure has not been verified.
