US- Israel-Iran War Latest Update: The United States launched airstrikes on Iran’s strategic Chabahar Port on Thursday, targeting key maritime facilities, shortly after President Donald Trump warned that any further attacks by Tehran would trigger a stronger response from Washington.

According to Iranian state media reports, the strikes hit important infrastructure at the southeastern port, including two marine piers and a maritime traffic control tower. The attacks reportedly damaged facilities at the Shahid Beheshti dock, the Kalantari dock, and the port’s traffic control centre.

Videos and images shared on social media appeared to show major damage to the maritime traffic control tower at Beheshti Port following the strikes. The head of the Chabahar Free Zone Organisation also confirmed that the port’s maritime traffic control tower was destroyed in the attack, according to reports by Iran International.

US- Israel-Iran War Latest Update: What Happened at Chabahar Port After US Airstrikes?

Residents in Chabahar and nearby Konarak reported hearing around 10 explosions following the strikes. The attack also affected electricity supplies in the region, leaving nearly half of Chabahar without power. The provincial electricity authority in Sistan and Baluchestan said that three power transmission lines were damaged during the attack. Officials confirmed that two lines had been restored, while repair work continued on the remaining line.

The strike on Chabahar carries major strategic importance as the port is Iran’s only ocean-access facility. Located on the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz, Chabahar plays a crucial role in Iran’s maritime trade and regional connectivity. The reported destruction of the maritime traffic control tower is considered significant because the facility manages and coordinates the movement of ships entering and leaving the port.

US- Israel-Iran War Latest Update: Why Did the US Strike Iran’s Chabahar Port?

The latest US military action came after Washington announced new operations against Iran, stating that the strikes were aimed at protecting freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The US said the operation was carried out in response to an earlier attack on three cargo ships travelling through the strategically important waterway. Although Iran has not accepted responsibility for those attacks, US officials have continued to accuse Tehran of being involved. President Donald Trump had earlier issued a warning against further attacks and threatened a stronger response. “This is in retribution for yesterday’s bombing of ships by Iran. If it happens again, it will get much worse!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

US- Israel-Iran War Latest Update: Why Is the Strait of Hormuz Important in the US-Iran Conflict?

The Strait of Hormuz has become one of the biggest flashpoints in the ongoing US-Iran tensions. The narrow waterway, located between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf, is a major global energy route. Before the conflict began with US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28, around one-fifth of global oil supplies passed through the Strait of Hormuz. The region has remained under intense international attention as any disruption to shipping routes could affect global energy markets, oil prices, and supply chains. The latest strike on Chabahar Port marks another escalation in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with both sides facing increasing pressure amid rising military and diplomatic tensions.
