US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian family and foreign journalists in the occupied West Bank village of Jalud. The incident involved anti-settlement activist Bashar al-Qaryouti confirming that settlers assaulted Mahmoud al-Toubasi, his wife, and an accompanying media crew. The attack in Jalud is part of an ongoing siege targeting the al-Toubasi (Tubasi) family, whose home has been a focal point of intense regional friction.

The media crew was accompanying the al-Toubasi family near a home they had been forced to flee months prior due to ongoing settler pressure.

Settlers confronted the group, beat members of the press crew, and completely smashed their vehicle.

This event adds to a sharp surge in tensions across the West Bank, where journalists, international activists, and Palestinian families face frequent harassment and blockades from local settler outposts.

In April, Israeli settlers established an illegal outpost directly in the yard of the al-Toubasi family home. The family endured months of continuous harassment, property damage, and intimidation.

Unable to cope with the escalating hostility, the family was forcibly displaced and fled their home in July. Settlers immediately moved into the empty house and took over the property.

When the family returned to visit the site of their home alongside foreign press, settlers immediately swarmed the area. They physically beat the media crew and smashed their vehicle’s windshields and punctured tires to block their exit.

This incident is not an isolated clash, but rather part of a broader pattern of physical attacks against journalists documenting West Bank updates:

  • AFP Crew Assaulted (August): Days prior, a three-person Agence France-Presse (AFP) crew was attacked by stone-and-stick-wielding settlers in nearby Jannatah.

  • CNN Crew Attacked (July): A CNN reporting team was cornered and assaulted with metal rods and stones by masked settlers near Ramallah.

According to United Nations humanitarian data (OCHA), settler violence has scaled up sharply, leading to the partial or complete displacement of over 100 Palestinian communities across the West Bank.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Wider Regional Impact

The village of Jalud sits directly south of Nablus, an area heavily impacted by outpost expansion. Parallel tactics are currently playing out in the neighboring village of Qusra, where the Abu Ridi and Hassan families have faced a similar multi-week siege by settlers who tore down perimeter walls and cut off vital utilities.

The tactical playbook used to isolate and displace the al-Tubasi family is currently being mirrored across the northern West Bank, specifically around Nablus:

In the neighboring village of Qusra, the Abu Ridi and Hassan families found themselves under an identical blockade. Settlers set up outposts directly overlooking their properties, cut their main power grids, and targeted their water supplies to force them to abandon their land.

Strategic hilltop outposts have been constructed overlooking Nidat, mimicking the Jalud strategy. Settlers use these elevated points to launch rocks, cut utilities, and physically block vehicles from entering or exiting the lower valley communities.
