US-Israel-Iran War Live News: The conflict between the United States and Iran intensified further on Wednesday as the US military launched a second wave of airstrikes against Iranian military targets linked to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes. The operation came hours after an earlier round of attacks and was aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels passing through the strategic waterway.

As fighting entered its fifth consecutive day, Tehran accused Washington of violating agreements, claimed attacks on American military bases in the Middle East, and vowed to continue its response.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: CENTCOM Announces Second Wave of Strikes

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American forces launched another round of military operations on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said, “At 3 pm ET, U.S. forces launched operations for a second wave of strikes today against Iran.”

It added, “The strikes are targeting Iranian military capabilities used to threaten vessels freely transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, an international waterway vital to global commerce. The US military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief’s direction.”

According to US officials, the operation targeted military assets believed to support attacks on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: US Targets Military Infrastructure Near Strait of Hormuz

Earlier in the day, CENTCOM said US aircraft struck several Iranian military positions, including coastal defence systems and cruise missile storage and launch facilities on Greater Tunb Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Pentagon said the objective was to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping along one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes, through which a significant share of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Why is the Strait of Hormuz So Important?

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, making it one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

Roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies move through the narrow shipping lane every day. Any military escalation in the area can disrupt energy markets, increase shipping costs, and affect oil prices worldwide.

The latest US strikes are part of Washington’s effort to keep commercial shipping routes open after accusing Iran of attacking merchant vessels in the region.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Iran Says It Is Fighting an ‘Existential War’

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the conflict as an “existential war” and accused the United States of attempting to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

He said, “As I have repeatedly stated, negotiations at this stage do not amount to capitulation.”

He added, “Alongside war, they form part of the strategy of resistance and the protection of the national interest.”

Ghalibaf also said Iran would act according to the guidance of the country’s supreme leader.

“We all have a duty to work for war, diplomacy or both, in accordance with the course he sets.”

He argued that Washington had failed to honour commitments related to the Strait of Hormuz and said Iran’s armed forces now had “complete freedom of action” in responding to attacks.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Iran Claims Attacks on US Military Bases

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched attacks against US military positions in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait, according to Iranian state media.

Officials in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait later said their air defence systems intercepted incoming missiles and drones. No immediate casualties or major damage were reported.

Iranian state media reported that seven military personnel were killed in US strikes on military facilities in southeastern Iran.

Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani also said more than 30 civilians had died during recent US attacks, although she did not provide further details. Those casualty figures could not be independently verified.

US-Israel-Iran War Live News: Conflict Enters Fifth Day

The latest strikes mark another escalation in the rapidly expanding US-Iran conflict, with both countries continuing military operations while also exchanging sharp political statements.

As attacks continue around the Strait of Hormuz, governments and shipping companies are closely monitoring the security situation because any prolonged disruption could have major consequences for global energy supplies and international trade.
