US-Israel-Iran War Live Update: Iran has reportedly paused all indirect negotiations with the United States, signalling a major setback for diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East. The decision comes as fighting intensifies in Lebanon, where Iran-backed Hezbollah continues to face Israeli military operations.

According to Iranian media reports, Tehran believes recent developments in Lebanon have undermined conditions that were previously linked to a broader ceasefire arrangement involving regional conflicts.

Why Has Iran Suspended Talks With the US?

An official from Iran reportedly decided to halt discussions conducted through intermediaries after accusing Israel of violating ceasefire-related understandings connected to Lebanon.

State-linked media said Iranian negotiators would not continue diplomatic exchanges until certain conditions are met, including an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.

“In light of the ongoing crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and given that Lebanon was part of the ceasefire preconditions, and now this ceasefire has been violated on all fronts, including Lebanon, the Iranian negotiating team is suspending discussions and exchanges of texts through intermediaries.”

The statement reflects Tehran’s growing frustration with recent military developments in the region.

Iran Links Future Dialogue to Developments in Lebanon

Iranian media emphasised that Tehran sees Lebanon as an important component of any wider regional ceasefire framework.

“The immediate halt to the aggressive and brutal operations of the Zionist regime’s army in Gaza and Lebanon, and the necessity of the regime’s complete withdrawal from the occupied areas in Lebanon, have been emphasised by Iranian officials and negotiators, and as long as Iran’s and the resistance’s stance on this matter is not satisfied, there will be no dialogue.”

The remarks suggest that Iran intends to use ongoing negotiations as leverage in response to military developments involving its regional allies.

US-Israel-Iran War Live Update: Iran Threatens Blockade on Strait of Hormuz

Reports from Iranian outlets indicate that Tehran is considering stronger measures beyond suspending talks. Among the most significant concerns is the reported threat to block the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

The narrow waterway carries a substantial share of global oil exports, making any disruption a major concern for international markets and governments.

Iranian media also suggested that pressure could increase in other strategic waterways, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden.

Abbas Araghchi Warns of Consequences

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reinforced Tehran’s position by warning that continued military action in Lebanon could have broader consequences for regional stability.

“The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.”

Araghchi argued that the current ceasefire arrangement extends beyond direct US-Iran relations and applies across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

His comments highlight Iran’s belief that regional conflicts are interconnected and cannot be treated separately during diplomatic negotiations.

US-Israel-Iran War Live Update: Israel Intensifies Operations in Lebanon

The latest diplomatic breakdown comes as Israel continues military operations against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.

Reports indicate that Israeli forces carried out strikes in Beirut’s Dahieh district, a known Hezbollah stronghold. Israeli troops have also reportedly advanced in southern Lebanon and captured strategic positions following days of intense fighting.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained that military operations are necessary to counter security threats posed by Hezbollah.

Trump Remains Optimistic About the Deal

Despite reports of stalled negotiations, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that diplomacy remains possible. Speaking about relations with Iran, Trump suggested that Tehran remains interested in reaching an agreement with Washington.

“Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end – it always does.”

The US president also indicated that any future agreement would benefit both American interests and regional allies.

US-Israel-Iran War Live Update: What Does This Mean for the Middle East?

Iran’s decision to suspend talks represents a significant challenge for ongoing diplomatic efforts. The move raises concerns about further instability in the Middle East, particularly as fighting continues in Lebanon and tensions remain high between Iran, Israel and the United States.

Any disruption to major shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz could also have far-reaching consequences for global energy markets, international trade and regional security.

For now, diplomatic channels appear strained, and attention is shifting toward whether military developments in Lebanon will push the region toward deeper confrontation or eventually bring all sides back to the negotiating table.
