US Iran War Talks Latest News: A temporary pause has emerged in the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, as Tehran has accepted a two-week ceasefire and agreed to begin discussions with Washington. However, both sides have made it clear that the situation remains tense and the conflict is not fully resolved.

US President Donald Trump stated that American forces will stay deployed until a “real agreement” is reached. He also connected the success of the ceasefire to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, Israel has continued its military operations in Lebanon, causing heavy casualties and raising concerns about how long the ceasefire will last.

What Conditions Has Iran Set Before US Iran War Talks?

Before agreeing to negotiations, Iran laid down certain preconditions. According to Tasnim news agency and statements by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, talks will only begin once specific steps are completed.

“Two of the measures mutually agreed upon between the parties are yet to be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s blocked assets prior to the commencement of negotiations,” Ghalibaf said. “These two matters must be fulfilled before negotiations begin.”

Speaking ahead of the talks, Donald Trump said the United States is prepared to move forward regardless of the outcome of negotiations. He emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened even if no agreement is reached.

“Well, I wish them luck. He’s got a big thing. I’ll find out what’s going on. They’re militarily defeated, and now we’re going to open up the gulf (Strait of Hormuz) with or without a deal. But that’ll be open, we’re going to be on the straight as they call it,” Trump said.

US Isreal Iran War Talks: Lebanon Conflict Raises Doubts Over Ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire between the US and Iran, tensions continue in Lebanon. Israel has intensified strikes targeting Hezbollah, and has rejected claims that the truce applies to Lebanon. Iranian sources have indicated that Tehran may refuse to fully participate in talks unless a ceasefire is also implemented in Lebanon.

Israel and Lebanon Set for Talks in Washington

In a separate development, representatives from Israel and Lebanon have agreed to hold talks in Washington. The meeting is expected to focus on announcing a ceasefire and setting a timeline for direct negotiations between the two sides.

While the ceasefire has created an opportunity for dialogue, the situation remains fragile. Ongoing military actions, especially in Lebanon, and disagreements over key demands continue to challenge the peace process. The upcoming talks in Islamabad could play a crucial role in determining whether the region moves toward stability or further conflict.

US Israel Iran War Talks Latest News: Why is Pakistan mediating & What is the Preparation before Talks?

Pakistan holds a unique position in the current situation due to its strong diplomatic relations with both the United States and Iran. Notably, Iran was the first country to recognise Pakistan after its independence in 1947. The two nations share a 900-kilometre border and maintain deep historical, cultural, and religious connections. Pakistan is also home to over 20 million Shia Muslims, making it the second-largest Shia population in the world after Iran.

At the same time, Pakistan has close ties with the United States and has been designated a Major Non-NATO Ally since 2004. According to reports, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir has recently held several conversations with both US and Iranian leaders, highlighting Islamabad’s active diplomatic role.

China is also playing an important part behind the scenes. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar secured support from Beijing for mediation efforts during a visit in late March. Former US President Donald Trump claimed that China helped bring Iran to the negotiating table, a statement that has been backed by Pakistani officials.

As Pakistan hosts the high-level talks in Islamabad, the government has declared a two-day public holiday in the city. Security has been significantly tightened, with armed forces deployed, traffic diversions implemented, and checkpoints set up across important locations.

The negotiations are expected to take place indirectly. Both delegations will likely sit in separate rooms, while Pakistani officials act as intermediaries, carrying proposals back and forth—similar to previous talks mediated by Oman.
