US-Israeli-Iran War Latest News: Israeli Air Strikes on Burj Al-Shamali and Al-Mansouri

The overnight escalation in southern Lebanon was triggered by a deadly bomb blast that killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded seven others inside a booby-trapped building in Majdal Zoun.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) categorized the incident as a “blatant violation” of the standing ceasefire by Hezbollah, prompting immediate, forceful military retaliation while high-stakes diplomatic talks were actively taking place.

  • Al-Mansouri: The Israeli military issued an explicit online evacuation order—its first in nearly six weeks—forcing residents to flee northward before carrying out precise drone and warplane strikes on the village. The strikes hit deep within residential neighborhoods, leaving several people wounded.

  • Burj al-Shamali: Located near the coastal city of Tyre, this town was hit by powerful, successive air raids that shook residential sectors, sparked structural fires, and left behind unexploded ordnance.

  • Casualties & Damage: Civil defense and medical teams rushed to the scenes to extinguish blazes and transport the wounded to nearby hospitals. At least one fatality and multiple injuries were immediately verified in parallel regional strikes, such as the hit on a prayer hall in nearby Tibnin.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that these targeted actions were launched in direct response to “blatant ceasefire violations” by the militant group Hezbollah.

The flare-up in hostilities directly coincided with critical U.S.-sponsored diplomatic talks being held in Rome, where Israeli and Lebanese officials were meeting to negotiate a phased military withdrawal and safeguard regional stability.

US-Israeli-Iran War Latest News: Nature of the Strikes & Forced Evacuation

Israeli troops operating in the border region entered a building in Majdal Zoun (near Al-Mansouri) that had been rigged with explosives. The subsequent detonation killed two soldiers and severely injured seven others, prompting the IDF to launch targeted air raids.

Moments before the airstrikes, IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Lt. Col. Ella Waweya issued an urgent online order for Al-Mansouri. Residents were ordered to flee at least 1,000 meters north into open areas. This marked the first forced evacuation directive issued by the military in nearly six weeks.

Heavy warplane and drone strikes hit residential neighborhoods in Al-Mansouri, destroying infrastructure and weapon storage depots. Simultaneously, successive air raids targeted Burj al-Shamali near Tyre, while adjacent border areas experienced controlled demolitions of buildings and artillery shelling.

The strikes left multiple civilians wounded across Al-Mansouri and Burj al-Shamali. In a parallel strike, an Israeli raid hit the roof of a prayer area at a cemetery in Tibnin, killing one person and injuring 11 others.

US-Israeli-Iran War Latest News: Geopolitical Disconnect

The sudden military flare-up directly overlapped with U.S.-sponsored diplomatic talks in Rome. Lebanese and Israeli officials were engaged in a second round of negotiations regarding a phased Israeli military withdrawal from southern territory.

Under a framework previously discussed, a pilot-zone initiative was meant to hand security control over to the Lebanese Army to disarm non-state groups. However, the IDF claims that the premature return of civilians and the setting up of roadblocks by the Lebanese Army in areas like Al-Mansouri violated initial security agreements.
