United States President Donald Trump has shared a picture on his social media account showing Venezuela as the 51st state. The post was shared by President Trump on his ‘Truth Social’ account while he was en route to China for a high stakes summit. The provocative post by Trump comes a day after Venezuela interim President Delcy Rodriguez said his country never wanted to become the 51st state of America. 

What President Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ Post Says

The United States President Donald Trump, on his Truth Social platform, showed Venezuela with an American flag and displayed it as the  51st state of America. The post was shared by President Trump while he was departing for China for a crucial meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The controversial post comes a day after Venezuela interim President Delcy Rodriguez said his country had never considered it to be part of America as its 51st state.

Why Trump Considering Venezuela As 51st State

President Trump has stated that he is seriously considering adding Venezuela as the 51st state. Following a U.S. military operation that led to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro  and his wife, Cilia Flores, Trump expressed interest in designating Venezuela as a U.S. territory. The massive oil reserves encouraged Trump to secure and manage the territory. 

What Venezuela Leader Delcy Rodriguez Says

The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, stated that the nation has never considered becoming the 51st state of the United States. Rodríguez emphasized that she will continue to defend the integrity, sovereignty, independence, and history of Venezuela. “Venezuela is not a colony, but a free country,” she was quoted as saying by the agency.
