Wayne County Death Update: County officials in Utah have urged residents of Torrey and surrounding areas to take extra precautions following a string of suspicious deaths. Authorities from Sevier County are seeking public help to locate a vehicle potentially linked to the incidents.
On Wednesday, authorities discovered the bodies of three women at two separate locations in Wayne County, prompting a multicounty manhunt across southern and central Utah. The Utah Department of Public Safety reported that dispatch received a call about two deceased women found on a hiking trail Wednesday afternoon. A third woman was found dead at a home in Wayne County.
Authorities are requesting information regarding a 2022 White Subaru Outback with license plate U560YF, believed to be involved in the suspicious deaths. Anyone who has seen the vehicle within the last 24 hours is urged to call Sevier County dispatch at 435-896-6471.
Sevier County Emergency Management posted on Facebook, “We are looking for information on a 2022 WHITE SUBARU OUTBACK 10-28 UT/ U560YF suspected involvement in a suspicious death out of Wayne County. If you have seen this vehicle within the last 24 hours please contact dispatch at 435-896-6471. Further information will come from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.”

Multiple law enforcement agencies are currently in the area. Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the other law enforcement agencies are taking action to keep all residents safe.”

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office shared the alert, stating,“The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has asked residents to stay inside, lock doors, and keep lights on due to recent incidents. Authorities are also looking for a 2022 white Subaru Outback possibly connected to a suspicious death in Wayne County. There is no confirmed threat in San Juan County, but please stay alert and report suspicious activity to dispatch or call 911.”
Officials in Garfield County noted that the situation no longer poses a threat locally but urged residents to remain vigilant. In Beaver, a public safety alert instructed residents in the Elm Tree Lane area to shelter in place, lock doors, remove keys from vehicles, and turn on outside lights.
The Wayne County School District announced school closures for Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6. The Wayne Community Health Center and Kazan Memorial Clinic also confirmed closures on Thursday, March 5, citing public safety concerns.
The FBI is aware of the developments in Wayne County. Spokeswoman Sandra Yi Barker in Salt Lake City stated that while the agency is monitoring the situation, it is ready to assist local authorities if required.
