Dina Powell McCormick joins Meta as president and vice chairman, blending global finance experience with political and philanthropic expertise.

Dina Powell McCormick is a financial veteran and ex-adviser to Trump, has formally joined Meta as the president and vice chairman. This hiring marks Meta’s shift in priorities, focusing on global partnerships and AI infrastructure, given her impressive experience of four decades in finance, government and philanthropy. Dina brings unique experience in finance, considering Meta is looking to expand its footprint in global markets and she has political insight as well.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced Powell McCormick in a company release: “Dina's knowledge and experience at the highest levels of global finance, coupled with the global relationships she has built, mean she is uniquely situated to help Meta navigate the next chapter in our evolution.”
Sovereign partnerships with governments are the role Powell McCormick will take on in helping Meta advance its investment in artificial intelligence. Powell McCormick was a board member of Meta from April through December 2025. Her experience as a board member will help pave the way for the role as an executive.
Powell McCormick is the second Trump administration official to join Meta in recent times. The new Chief Legal Officer of Meta, Curtis Joseph Mahoney, also worked in the Trump administration. President Trump welcomed Powell McCormick to her new role by terming her a fantastic and very talented person who served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction. Powell McCormick has experience in both politics and finance that makes her an invaluable employee for Meta in matters of AI, Energy and Global Infrastructure.
Powell McCormick was born as Dina Habib in Cairo, Egypt. She emigrated to the United States as a child. It seems that Powell McCormick has climbed to positions of prominence in both politics and finance in the United States. She has been a Deputy National Security Adviser to Trump and an assistant to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in George W. Bush’s administration. Additionally, she has also occupied high positions in Goldman Sachs including managing director and President of the Goldman Sachs Foundation.
Powell McCormick attended Ursuline Academy of Dallas and graduated in 1991. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her undergraduate degree in humanities with completion of the Plan II Honors program in 1995 with extensive community service. Powell joined the Delta sorority while at UT and her concentration there was on mentorship and public policy initiatives that would help her begin her leadership roles later in life.
Her father was an Egyptian army captain and her mother went to the American University in Cairo. When her parents were done raising her in Cairo, they moved the whole family to Dallas, Texas, where her parents owned a convenience store, her father sold real estate and her father drove city buses. This, according to Powell McCormick, instilled in her strong work ethics, the ability to speak Arabic and an appreciation for cultural heritage.
She married Richard C. Powell in 1998 and they pair has two daughters. Later in her life, she got engaged to a financier and former government official, Dave McCormick and the two married in 2019. Her personal and working relationships offer a proper complements for her public profile.
Powell McCormick has had an extensive career in the governance, finance and foundation sectors. She played integral roles in both Bush and Trump administrations as Deputy National Security Advisor and Assistant to the President for Economic Initiatives. For Goldman Sachs, she graduated as a managing director and partner, spearheading initiatives such as 10,000 Women, who empower women business owners worldwide. She joined BDT & MSD Partners in 2023 and subsequently her full-time position as an executive at Meta.
According to corporate filings, it appears that Powell McCormick owns more than $1.3 million in stocks and owns net worth commensurate to her senior roles in banking, finance and governance. She owns extensive connections in governance and philanthropy as well.
