Check out everything about the killer who murdered two innocent women in Florida.

Who is Wade Wilson?

Wade Steven Wilson was born in 1994 to teenage parents who struggled to provide a stable home. He was convicted of first-degree murder in June 2024 and sentenced to death in August 2024.

As of May 2026, he is incarcerated at the Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, Florida.

Wade Wilson Double Murders

Wade Wilson’s deadly and heinous act began on October 07, 2019, when he went to a local bar at night with his girlfriend, Mila Montanez. The couple had a volatile relationship and quarreled at the bar.

He then befriended Jayson Shepard, and the two men struck up a conversation with Kristine Melton and her best friend, Stephanie Johnson. Later that night, Wilson went to Melton’s home, and in the early morning, Wilson strangled Melton in her bed, stole her car, and fled.

In the same morning, he assaulted Montanez at her workplace. After some hours, he spotted Diane Ruiz walking to her nearby job and asked her for help in locating a local school. After he successfully lured her into his car, he strangled her.

When he found out that she was still breathing, he ran over her repeatedly with Melton’s car. Not only that, but he also made a chilling confession to his biological father on a phone call, admitting he had killed the two women and providing details about their deaths.

Wade Wilson as Deadpool Killer

In between his arrest and his trial in 2024, Wade Wilson dramatically changed his appearance by getting a series of tattoos all over his face and neck.

The tattoos include references from several comic book films, like ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Deadpool.’ Wilson also shares the same name as the fictional Marvel anti-hero who was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds on screen.

Along with that, his physical resemblance to the character contributed to the media dubbing him the ‘Deadpool Killer.’

Wade Wilson Trial and Imprisonment

In June 2024, after his multi-week trial, a jury found Wilson guilty on six counts, such as:

  • Two counts of first-degree murder

  • Grand theft

  • Burglary

  • Battery

The evidence was overwhelming, including eyewitness accounts, phone records, DNA found in the crime scene, the stolen car, and his own confession.

Wade Wilson didn’t stop even behind bars, and even continued his criminal activities. In 2020, he organised a failed escape attempt to remove the bars of his cell. Later in 2023, Wade Wilson was in a drug-smuggling plot.

Soon after his murder conviction, Wade Wilson pleaded no contest on the drug charges and received an additional sentence of 12 years for attempted trafficking of amphetamine or methamphetamine and one count of conspiracy to traffic.

Wade Wilson Death Penalty

The Jury recommended the death penalty for Wade Wilson, but during the sentencing process, a neurologist from Wilson’s defense presented evidence that he had suffered from brain trauma and cognitive issues for years.

But the judge dismissed a defense motion for a retrial or acquittal and sentenced Wilson to death in August 2024.

Wade Wilson Early Life

Wade Wilson was born in 1994. Shortly after his birth, he was adopted by a family in Cape Coral, Florida, because his parents were unable to provide a stable home.

From an early age, Wilson showed signs of emotional turmoil and behavioral problems. His friends and family recalled a childhood marked by frequent school suspensions, escalating aggression, and early drug use.

Despite multiple efforts to help him through counseling and rehabilitation programs, Wilson’s troubles only deepened as he grew older.

By his 20s, Wilson had amassed a long criminal record filled with arrests for violent offenses, child cruelty, and domestic incidents. His friends and family described him as someone who could be charming one moment but turn volatile the next moment.

His troubled upbringing and growing instability painted the picture of a young man spiraling out of control, setting the stage for his violent crimes.

Wade Wilson in the Upcoming Season of Netflix True Crime Show

Wade Wilson will be a featured element of an upcoming season of a Netflix true crime show. He will be one of the four subjects of Season 2 of Blumhouse Productions and ITV America’s true-crime docuseries “Worst Ex Ever.”

This will feature a blend of testimonials, bodycam footage, and animated reenactments.

Where is Wade Wilson Now?

In February 2026, his legal team appeared before the Florida Supreme Court to challenge the constitutionality of Florida’s non-unanimous death penalty law, though the hearing concluded in just minutes without new arguments being accepted.
