As the conflict between the United States and Iran continues to dominate global headlines, an earlier prediction made by a Beijing-based educator has suddenly drawn widespread attention online. A lecture delivered in 2024 by Xueqin Jiang has resurfaced on social media after two of his major forecasts appear to have come true.
In that lecture, Jiang predicted three major global developments: Donald Trump returning to power, the United States going to war with Iran, and the possibility that the US would lose the conflict. With the first two events already unfolding, many people online have started calling him “China’s Nostradamus,” sparking curiosity about who he is and how he made these predictions.
Who is Xueqin Jiang?
Xueqin Jiang is a Chinese educator, researcher, and commentator who focuses on global politics, history, and strategic analysis. Born in 1976, Jiang teaches philosophy and history and has been involved in several education reform initiatives in China.
He studied English Literature at Yale University and later worked in various leadership roles in prominent schools in China. According to his professional profile, Jiang served as Deputy Principal at Shenzhen Middle School from 2008 to 2010.
After that, he became the Director of the International Division at Peking University High School in Beijing. Jiang later worked as Deputy Principal at Tsinghua University High School between 2013 and 2014. He also contributed as an education editor for the Chinese-language website of The New York Times.
Apart from his work in education, Jiang runs an online project called “Predictive History,” where he analyses global events and tries to forecast future developments using historical patterns and strategic thinking.
Why Is Xueqin Jiang Called ‘China’s Nostradamus’?
Jiang has gained attention because of predictions he made during an online lecture in 2024. In the lecture, he outlined three major forecasts about global politics.
“In this class and in this semester. I am making three big predictions: first, Trump will win in November. Second is that the United States will go to war against Iran, and the third prediction is that the US will lose this war, which will forever change the global order.”

Since the first two predictions appear to have materialised, clips from the lecture have gone viral across social media platforms. Many users have started referring to him as “China’s Nostradamus,” comparing him to the famous French astrologer known for predicting historical events.
What Did Xueqin Jiang Say About The US-Iran War?
In his lecture, Jiang argued that a direct conflict between the United States and Iran could prove extremely difficult for Washington. He compared the potential war to the ancient Sicilian expedition during the Peloponnesian War, when Athens launched a major military campaign but eventually suffered a crushing defeat.
Jiang suggested that Iran’s geography could provide a strategic advantage in a prolonged conflict. The country’s mountainous terrain and strong domestic resistance, he said, could make military operations extremely challenging for foreign forces.
Xueqin Jiang Explains His War Analysis
After his prediction began circulating widely online, Jiang appeared on the American political program “Breaking Points” to explain his reasoning in more detail.
“Given my analysis of how the war is progressing, I think that Iran has many more advantages over the United States. The reality is, right now, it’s a war of attrition between the United States and Iran, and Iranians have been preparing 20 years for this conflict,” said Xueqin.
He added that Iran had already studied earlier military confrontations.
“They’ve had many practice runs. Last June was a 12-day war when the Iranians were able to examine and analyse the strike capacities of both the Israelis and the Americans. And they have had a lot of time, eight months, to prepare fully for this new attack,” he added.
Jiang also pointed to Iran’s regional allies and militias as part of the strategic equation.
“Their proxies, the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the militias, have been able to really grasp the American mentality. And now they have a pretty good strategy of how to weaken and ultimately destroy the American empire.”
Why Experts Remain Cautious About Such Predictions
Despite the growing attention surrounding Jiang’s analysis, many geopolitical experts warn that predicting global conflicts remains extremely difficult.
While some analysts appreciate his use of historical comparisons and strategic frameworks, others argue that international politics involves too many unpredictable factors to make definitive forecasts.
For now, Jiang’s predictions continue to fuel debate online as the world watches how the ongoing US-Iran conflict unfolds.
