Brunel has a history of creating a fashion success (Karin Models in 1977 and MC2 Model Management in the US) but her legacy changed to criminal charges in sexual abuse and child trafficking. Brunel who was born in 1946 established a reputation as a talent scout who could see the young models. Brunel was accused of raping, sexual assault and harassment of various minors and adults by French authorities. He also was suspected to facilitate travel and accommodation of victims of Epstein at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in December 2020, Brunel was trying to board a flight to Senegal when he was arrested. He was investigated as having decades of alleged crimes, including French citizen cases.
The photographs of Epstein in his apartment on Avenue Foch in Paris showed the 18-room mansion with photographs of naked women or half-naked women on the walls. Other unsettling characteristics were massage room with vibrators and sex toys and rooms with outlandish decorations. French prosecutors feel that young women were groomed and exploited on these spaces and this could lead Brunel in master-planning such encounters.
Brunel died and the victims were frustrated. Dutch ex-model Thysia Huisman also claimed being raped and abducted by Brunel when he was 18, pitying the fact that the man would never stand trial. Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre noted that with Brunel gone, a chapter has been closed but her testimony had served to keep the accused in prison. Their narratives emphasize unresolved trauma and a never ending pursuit of justice.
Brunel was found hanged in La Santé prison in 2022 and his impending charges in France were dismissed by his death. There was no other person who was accused of his actions. However, the publishing of Epstein files have led authorities to investigate Brunel and examine the larger trafficking network in which he was connected, as well as financial offenses related to Epstein.
Brunel was a long-term acquaintance and financial beneficiary of Epstein, who made it easier to travel, stay, and see young women. In both France and the US, prosecutors viewed him as an important participant in the European network of Epstein. Their association emphasized an advanced system of recruitment, grooming and exploitation that cut across continents.
Jeffrey Epstein is an American financier and found guilty of attempting to solicit prostitution services of a minor and subsequently under investigation for managing a sex trafficking network across the world.
