Oliver "Power" Grant, a founding figure closely linked to the legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, has passed away at the age of 52. The Staten Island–based collective confirmed Grant’s death on Wednesday, February 25, through a post on X. Sharing a video of past interview clips, the group wrote, “Rest in Power, Power.” No official details have been released about the cause or circumstances of his death.
Oliver “Power” Grant was an American entrepreneur, producer, and actor who played a major role in shaping the Wu-Tang Clan’s business legacy. He was born on November 3, 1973, in Staten Island, New York, and grew up in the Park Hill Projects alongside members who would later form the Wu-Tang Clan.
Grant was a childhood friend of Divine, the older brother of RZA, and became deeply involved in the group from its early days. Over the years, he emerged as a key architect behind the collective’s commercial success.
As a close associate of the group, Grant served as the executive producer on all Wu-Tang Clan albums, helping guide their sound and brand during their rise to global fame.
Grant was the founder and CEO of Wu Wear, the iconic fashion label linked to the Wu-Tang Clan. Launched in 1995, Wu Wear became one of hip-hop’s earliest and most successful artist-led clothing brands.

Grant also made his mark beyond fashion and music. He made his acting debut as Knowledge in the cult classic film Belly, directed by Hype Williams.
He later appeared as Rich Bower in Black and White, where he also worked as a producer and music supervisor. Grant collaborated again with director James Toback as an actor and composer in When Will I Be Loved. He also starred in and produced Coalition and co-starred as Big Kev in Queen of Media, based on Wendy Williams’ life story.
In gaming, Grant produced and released the 1999 PlayStation title Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style, a fighting game inspired by the group’s music, martial arts themes, and stage personas.
In Hulu’s series Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Grant is portrayed by actor Marcus Callender, who called it “a complete honor” to represent such a vital figure in Wu-Tang history.
