Northern Line Severe Delays Today: The Northern line Tube commuters have encountered severe delays due to tube failures today morning, March 12, 2026. Commuters were traveling to work. Currently, normal services have resumed with minor delays on the Bakerloo, Jubilee, and Piccadilly lines.

Why Northern Line Tube Services Commuters Face Severe Delays Today?

The severe delays on the Northern line on March 12, 2026, were mainly due to planned maintenance and technical issues. The Bank branch of the Northern line has been experiencing planned early closures from Camden Town to Kennington since January 12, 2026. This was due to essential track replacement work. The closures start at 22:00 hours. This has mainly impacted evening travelers. There was also a track fault experienced earlier in the week at Kennington. This led to severe disruptions between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station. On the morning of March 12, there was a signal failure at East Finchley. This led to severe delays on the trains running from High Barnet and Mill Hill East to Battersea Power Station via Charing Cross. There have also been other signal failures, including the one at Stockwell station. This has led to part suspensions and severe disruptions on the line.

Current Status of Affected Lines

What to Expect on the Northern Line Tube Services

Transport for London (TfL) engineers are actively addressing the signal failure at East Finchley. Passengers should anticipate:

  • Longer journey times and delays at interchange stations.

  • Potential crowding on platforms and trains.

  • Use of replacement bus services where part suspensions are in effect.

TfL recommends using its journey planner to check updated routes.

Advice for Commuters

  • Plan Ahead – Check alternative routes and allow extra travel time.

  • Avoid Crowded Sections – If possible, avoid Northern line sections experiencing major delays during peak hours.

  • Use Replacement Services – In areas with suspensions, London Buses are accepting Tube tickets to help passengers reach destinations.

  • Monitor Updates – Keep track of TfL announcements for changes in service and expected resolution times.

Uncertainty remains around the duration of the delays as engineers continue repairs. Travelers should remain patient and flexible while services gradually return to normal.
