After practicing medicine in the US, when we (myself and VOH’s co-founder Dr. Priya Lal Gupta) returned, we saw a lot of misinformation and misconceptions being spread via various media platforms due to which our patients were suffering. We talked about how to improve this and came up with Doctors on Call – a weekly health segment aired on NDTV. But we eventually realised that widening our reach required a certain level of digital presence which led to the inception of “VoiceOfHealth.in”. I really think that these platforms can be a big blessing for the masses if used in the right way; therefore, we came up with the initiative.
In today’s age, digital media is the go-to option to seek any kind of information, and medicine is not an exception. You’ve lately been experiencing some weird symptoms, what is the first thing you’ll do? You’ll perhaps make a quick search on the Internet. But with all the farce content out there, how can you zero in on the sources which you can actually trust?
Voice of Health is a consolidated platform that offers credible expert opinion and advice on everyday lifestyle habits and practices that help in maintaining overall health and vitality. In addition, Voice of Health enables individuals to discuss a variety of medical conditions; the possible treatment and recovery options and the best ways to avoid them are also discussed.
The interesting part about our initiative is the active two- way communication approach we adopt. We are active on the leading social media platforms- Facebook, as well as Instagram and regularly engage people in live chats. We discuss new topics every week and take queries from individuals, busting a lot of myths and confusions. Twitter users too can interact with us during live interaction sessions.
Not only this, Voice of Health runs various social media campaigns to promote a healthy lifestyle. The latest one—the #mostfit campaign was initiated to celebrate being healthy and motivated. All people had to do was post a picture with the one who inspires them to stay fit and tell us in what ways they are influenced by him/her.
But we eventually realised that widening our reach required a certain level of digital presence which led to the inception of VoiceOfHealth.in. I really think that these platforms can be a big blessing for the masses if used in the right way; therefore, we came up with the initiative.
Being certified medical doctors, we share a passion with the young minds that aim to shape a career in medicine, or simply wish to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Thus, to encourage the budding medical enthusiasts,Voice of Health provides a platform, where they (young medical practitioners)can post their articles/ blogs based on health and lifestyle practices. The official website has a segment called “Budding Medicos,” which holds all the articles written by young minds.
Besides us, the digital platform also has a panel of highly qualified experts from various fields. On boardwe have, Dr. Ridhi Gupta- specialist- Hematology- Oncology, Dr. Pratit Samdani- Internal Physician, Dr.NiveditaPandey- Hepatologist, Dr.GeetiMahajan-Endocrinologist and metabolic disorders, Dr RuchiSamdani – Nephrologist and Dr.ChandrilChugh-Neurologist. These doctors are all leaders in their respective fields who believe in the mission of providing credible health information. Voice of Health aims to cover all the medical fields and impart expert opinions on various health issues.
In future, we aim to expand the platform to be recognised as one of the most credible ones. To enhance the experience of our followers, we want to continuously build the database of articles and spread more information backed by scientific evidence and research. The initiative intends to remain free of bias and provide only the information that is backed by science.
To summarise, I would like to quote that“Credibility is the king. It is easier for a trusted brand to become a bank than it is for a bank to become trusted.”
