Jagan goes off to UK before walkathon

NewsJagan goes off to UK before walkathon

Ahead of his much hyped six-month long state wide padayatra, slated to begin from 6 November, YSR Congress president and Andhra Pradesh opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy left for London on Saturday morning to see his elder daughter Y.S. Harsha, who studies in the London School of Economics. He will return on Tuesday.

Jagan, according to sources close to him, thinks of his daughter as a lucky mascot and, hence, wanted to see her before the crucial padayatra that would see him covering an area of 3,000 km in 175 Assembly constituencies across Andhra Pradesh. He will also visit his father Rajasekhara Reddy’s memorial in Idupulapaya in Kadapa next week. Jagan, who appeared before a CBI court on Friday, informed it of his UK trip. The CBI court has refused to exempt him from Friday appearances.

Jagan will have to travel back to the city by the time the court opens and return to his walkathon point the same evening. Party sources said that initially he will travel back and forth by road as long as he can cover the distance overnight, but later he will have to use a helicopter if he goes up to distant places.

Jagan’s MLAs and MLCs have also decided to boycott the winter session of the AP  Assembly from 10 November to protest against the ruling TDP that had approached 20 of its MLAs and promised to make four of them ministers if they defected. They have decided to stay away unless the defected MLAs were disqualified.
