Post-extremist Gaza has a golden future

opinionPost-extremist Gaza has a golden future

Hamas is a terror organisation whose multi-millionaire leaders and multi-billionaire backers reside in comfort in Qatar and other locations, while ordinary people throughout Gaza go through hell. The 7 October 2023 attack by the military wing of Hamas on Israel was a welcome diversion for the Communist Party of China (CPC) that has further succeeded in drawing Atlanticist attention away from the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC’s) own takeover of the ASEAN Sea, mislabelled the South China Sea for some reason. European countries are hurting their own future by cutting off from the Russian Federation. Add to this the economic woes of the United States and its NATO allies over their own folly in imposing sanctions on Russia. The Global South, in particular, has come around to the view that all the Atlanticists care about is themselves, and that both sides of that ocean have a narcissistic obsession with their own people to the exclusion of concern about the adverse effects of their actions on the Global South. Joe and Jill Biden are awash with tears for the suffering of the Ukrainian people in a way not manifested when much worse suffering was (and is) being endured by people in Yemen, Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia and several other countries. The Biden White House is concerned about Ukraine in a way that it seems not to be about the much greater levels of suffering being endured by people in countries where the population is not light coloured but dusky in countenance. Such a discriminatory attitude between human and human must be the consequence of the persuasive alchemy induced in his targets by the Pied Piper of Kiev, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The President of Ukraine has entranced not just the Bidens but power couples across both sides of the Atlantic, as he leads them towards self-ruin to the glee of the actual antagonist of the democracies in the era of Cold War 2.0, which is the PRC. During Cold War 1.0, Atlanticists formed the pivot of geopolitics. Small wonder that so many continue to pretend that this is still the last century, not the 21st. Not the century of the Indo-Pacific.

Unfortunately for the terror group that is called Hamas, its 7 October attack on Israel has become its death warrant. On that day, in a manner that he had ignored until that date of infamy, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel realised that it was not the Palestinian Authority (on which he had thus far been concentrating his attention) but Hamas that was an existential threat to the Jewish people. A people that in the previous century witnessed almost half of its total population getting wiped out by a country that had fallen under the spell of the murderous psychotic Adolf Schicklgruber, more commonly known as Hitler. The same self-presumed strategic geniuses who dragged the US into disastrous situations in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and other countries, these days misleadingly claim that the ongoing Israeli Defense Force (IDF) campaign against (the military win of) Hamas will radicalise millions of people and generate clones of Hamas. They could not be more wrong, for the opposite is the case. Should the IDF fail to break the back of (the military wing of) Hamas, it is such a setback that would radicalise millions of impressionable youngsters in several locations. In contrast, the destruction of the offensive capabilities of Hamas would be a lesson to extremists everywhere as to how hopeless their cause is, exactly in the manner in which the elimination of the Al Qaeda and ISIS as organised forces has been. These days, ISIS as an organised force remains in a functional state only in the part of Syria that is under the control of R.T. Erdogan. Given their propensity to do the opposite of what facts on the ground demand, it is small wonder that the members of the Atlantic Alliance are falling over each other to be deferential to Erdogan, just as they are to Xi Jinping. For its own survival, Israel will do whatever is necessary to eliminate the threat posed to the only Jewish-majority state in the world by Hamas. After that takes place, rather than emulate President George W. Bush, who sought to govern “liberated” Iraq even after the change of regime he engineered in 2003, Netanyahu needs to make way for a refreshed Palestinian Authority that inter alia reverses the inculcation of radical ideas (about Jews and Christians in particular) that is part of the teachings imparted to the young in Gaza after the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007. The young in Gaza should be given not just 21st century rather than medieval education for its young, they need an international airport and seaport. Post-extremist Gaza, given the high intrinsic quality of the Palestinian people, can then become what Singapore became under Lee Kuan Yew.
