NDMC chairman Amit Yadav said that the significant achievement has been made possible with the dedication and team spirit of NDMC officials.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said it achieved the financial target of fiscal year 2023-24 (Apr-Mar) as it has collected revenue of over Rs 3,795 crore from the various revenue sources.

“The significant achievement has been made possible with the dedication and team spirit of NDMC officials, and the credit goes to the team,” said NDMC Chairman Amit Yadav.

Earlier this week, NDMC said that “with the sustained efforts made by the team of NDMC, they have not just achieved their target, but they have also exceeded targets for fiscal year 2023–24 for the first time in the history of NDMC.”

NDMC has collected a record revenue of Rs. 3795.30 crore from the receipt sources of property tax, licence fee, commercial revenue (water and electricity), and parking fee.

An NDMC officer said that NDMC is steadily increasing its property tax collection without any increase in the rate of property tax. For the first time in the history of the civic body, property tax revenue collection crossed the Rs. 1000 crore mark. NDMC has collected Rs.

1025.59 crore in property tax against the target of Rs. 1150 crore. He added, “NDMC had collected property tax revenue of Rs 931.20 crore in 2022–23, Rs 950.75 crore in 2021–22, and Rs 690.78 crore in 2020–21.”

During FY 2023–24, through electricity and water supply, NDMC collected Rs. 1811.71 crore against the target of Rs. 1659.95 crore. NDMC collected commercial revenue of Rs. 1503 crore in FY 2021–22 and Rs. 1722 crore in FY 2022–23.

NDMC has also surpassed the target of licence fee collection for FY 2023–24. The estate department collected Rs 937 crore in licence fees against a revised target of Rs 825 crore.

The official said, “This is the first time that the department has not only achieved the RE of Rs. 825 crore but set a new benchmark against the collection figures of Rs. 628.68 crore in 2022–23 and Rs. 527.74 crore in FY 2021–22. Additionally, through parking, NDMC collected Rs. 21 crore against the target of Rs. 20 crore in FY 2023–24.

NDMC Chairman Amit Yadav congratulated all the officers and workers of NDMC for this achievement. He said, “The significant achievement has been made possible with the dedication and team spirit of NDMC officials, and the credit goes to the team.” Further, he expressed hope that the spirit of progress will be maintained in the future, with NDMC set to become the role model in the country, transforming it into an efficient, effective, and livable urban area. He stated that this could be possible only with dedication, devotion, hard work, and a sense of responsibility for the team.

The Chairman of NDMC specially mentioned that NDMC is one of the few municipalities in India to not only achieve the credit rating of AA+ in the year 2017-18 but continue the same rating till date.
