During his recent visits to Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana, PM Modi presented a thoughtfully curated selection of gifts from across India, each representing a unique aspect of the country’s vibrant cultural tapestry. These offerings, steeped in tradition and craftsmanship, served as a bridge of cultural connection, resonating with the recipients and highlighting India’s artistic legacy.
The gifts from Maharashtra reflected the state’s diverse artistry, including a Silofar Panchamrit Kalash from Kolhapur for the President of Nigeria and Warli paintings, a tribal art form, for the President of Brazil and CARICOM leaders. Other highlights included a Hand Carved Silver Chess Set for Portugal’s Prime Minister and an intricately engraved Silver Fruit Bowl for the CARICOM Secretary General.
Jammu and Kashmir’s rich culture found representation in papier-mâché vases gifted to the UK Prime Minister, a Pashmina Shawl for the First Lady of Guyana, and Kashmiri Saffron included in the CARICOM gift hampers.
From Rajasthan came intricate masterpieces like a Marble Inlay Work piece for the Norwegian Prime Minister, a Gold Work Wooden Raj Sawari figurine for the Guyanese Prime Minister, and a Silver Photo Frame for the Argentine President. Andhra Pradesh contributed a Silver Clutch Purse with semi-precious stones for the Brazilian President’s spouse and Araku Coffee for CARICOM leaders.
Jharkhand’s tribal artistry shone through with Sohrai and Khovar paintings gifted to the Vice President of Nigeria and the Indonesian President, respectively, celebrating the state’s deep connection to nature and tribal traditions.
Other notable gifts included a Channapatna wooden toy train from Karnataka for the Guyanese President’s younger son, a Tanjore Painting from Tamil Nadu for the French President, and a Madhubani painting from Bihar for the President of Guyana. Odisha’s centuries-old silver filigree art was showcased with a Filigree Boat for the Vice President of Guyana, while Ladakh’s artistry was represented by a semi-precious stone-adorned kettle gifted to Guyana’s Speaker of the National Assembly.
