In his two-day visit to Mumbai, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared that the party will leave no stones unturned to win the BMC (Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) elections next year. With that in mind, the Gandhi scion came to the city to quell the differences within the party. Current Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam received a show cause notice from the party after embarrassing articles were carried in Congress Darshan. It is believed that the news was leaked to the media by a leader within the party who isn’t happy with Nirupam.
“Til gul ghya, god bola (eat sweet til laddoo and talk sweet),” was Rahul Gandhi’s first message to his party workers in the city. He addressed a rally on the day of Maharashtrian festival of Makar Sankranti. His rally was thinly attended in Malad. But the party workers’ crowd swelled to attend the Azad Maidan event where he inaugurated Murli Deora auditorium.
