ENRG Speaker LED Bulb

Price: Rs 2,490

What’s this new craze for wacky speakers all about? Like other right-minded people, we thought it bizarre to fit a speaker in a shower faucet or, even better, an LED bulb. But EnrG, making a name for themselves through their offbeat innovations, are convinced about spreading sound this way. While we did at first question the relevance of combining a bulb with a speaker, all our doubts were put to rest as soon as we plugged this speaker bulb in a standard bulb socket.

EnrG’s speaker bulb is a Bluetooth speaker combined with an LED lamp, which comes with two light colour options — cool white and yellow, provided in the form of filament discs that can be easily twisted in. An ordinary-looking bulb comes to life the moment you switch it on, radiating a bright light and letting out a brief sound to indicate that the Bluetooth has been activated. The speaker is compatible with all Bluetooth enabled devices (pretty much all phones and tablets) and pairs effortlessly with the surrounding device in one tap. The stereo sound speakers are loud (enough) and clear, and are sufficient for an average-sized room.

The device comes with an infrared remote that makes it even more functional — you can control the brightness of the lamp and switch between songs (which can also be controlled through phones, but who would mind an additional controller?). You can even choose to switch off the light to turn the bulb into just a speaker or vice-versa. The remote functions perfectly within 30 feet of the lamp. Beyond the two standard AAA batteries required for the remote, the speaker bulb needs no charging or batteries; it is completely dependent on electricity. That does, however, mean that it’s not exactly a portable device that’ll fulfil your outdoor needs. That said, this wireless device, integrating light and sound effectively, sounds (and looks) like a good option after all, and, who knows, maybe it also justifies the urge to fit a speaker into everything around.
