NewsNight flights will boost J&K tourism
In a move expected to bring more tourist footfall in Kashmir, night flights will now become a reality in Srinagar with the Airports Authority of India giving a green signal for the same.
AAI director R.K. Shinde on Friday told the media that the Srinagar international airport was ready to operate night flights and the airlines can obtain clearances from the regulatory body of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The state tourism department has welcomed the move. It said that night landing facility will make Jammu and Kashmir a prime destination for MICE (meeting, incentives, conferences, events). Director of Tourism, Kashmir, Mehmood Ahmed Shah told this newspaper that the move will allow more people to use world class conference centres at SKICC Srinagar, Pahalgam Club, Gulmarg, which have excellent accommodation facility and modern infrastructure.
