A self- taught visual artist, illustrator and a practitioner of digital art with specialisation in mixed-media, Ashok Ahuja’s exhibition Allured is going on at Gallery Espace, New Delhi. His seamless portrayal of imagery puts a spell on the audience as every picture speaks a different story.
Talking about the exhibition Ahuja says, “The exhibition is my view if the world from my mind’s eye. Each one of us sees things differently. Allured is an invitation to viewers to see what might be a common reality but to see my point of view.”
Digital art has achieved the position of being mystical and invigorating. This concept brings forward the hidden and sometimes newer aspects to an art thus giving fresh perspective every time to everybody.
Ahuja has been creating pieces that show inner and outer perspectives via his creations. He creates an effect of the art that inspires the audience. With technology being the root of it, an added dimension of allure surrounds it. According to him, a piece of art isn’t worthy enough, if it does not uplift the soul. Art is as much about discovery and perception as it is about making and creating.
Ahuja began his journey that addresses the dialogue between tradition and modernity. Believing in infinite possibilities and meanings, Ashok has always been farsighted in imaging technology as he held his very first show of inkjet prints and computer animation about a decade ago. Even before this gained prominence in everyday life, he marvelled at it.

Ahuja says, “Allured explores the possibility that exists between photography and ‘not-photography’, between reality and abstraction, between a familiar world of objects and dematerialized forms, shapes, colour and light, giving free reign to the imagination.” By turning his gaze towards the everyday lives he tries to find the simple relationship between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Using the digital technology as a tool to express his own outlook, he wants to convey that it is essential to break the barrier of restricted opinions towards experiences of one’s life. While the art works need not to be confined to the artist’s vision, its real essence lies in the eyes of the beholder. The entire exhibition will be an amalgamation of the artist’s and viewers’ play of ideas.
Allured will be on view 15 October 2016 at Gallery Espace, Delhi
