The border villages in Jammu and Kashmir continue to remain deserted as thousands of families have migrated to safer places. Shelling from Pakistan Rangers, however, did not happen on Friday all along the International Border and Line of Control in the Jammu region.
The police told the media that there was no cease-fire violation by the Pakistan troops in the Jammu region for the second day on Saturday. Houses and properties have been destroyed due to incessant shelling by the Pakistani troops in the Jammu region. The state government has already closed about 200 schools near the border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. Thousands of families are living in shelters provided by the government in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch that are close to the border. Most of them are reluctant to go back to their homes, as 11 civilians have been killed because of shelling.
Divisional Commander, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal told the media that the migrated villagers would be sent back to their villages when the government feels the hamlets are safe and secure. He said that even in the current hostile atmosphere, many villagers return to their homes in the night. He said the state government was in touch with the district commissioners and all help will be provided to the displaced families. In Jammu, the farmers are upset that although their crop is ready, they are unable to reap their crop due to shelling.
