Mamata Banerjee’s first meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after withdrawing support from the UPA took place last week. At the inauguration of the Indian Science Congress in Kolkata she sat next to him for a full 15 minutes before talking to him. But later, in a conciliatory gesture, she personally went behind the dais to fix some microphone problems that Dr Singh was facing while delivering his speech.
