DKS outreach to industry captains in bid to rebuild brand Bengaluru

Master plan for Bengaluru development to be prepared in six months, says Shivakumar.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, on Saturday, said a panel comprising government officials from major departments and prominent people from the region will prepare the blueprint for the Bengaluru development master plan in the coming six months.
“A committee will be formed, including the officials and prominent people of Bengaluru, and a blueprint with a master plan will be prepared for the development of the city in six months,” said D.K. Shivakumar after holding a meeting with several business tycoons from the region and brainstorming about development ideas.
DK Shivakumar said, “I got valuable inputs to develop Bengaluru from all tycoons of the city. Before this, I got the opinion of MLAs of all parties. Next, I will have another level of meeting to seek public opinion.”
The topics discussed during the meeting included a focus on high-density corridors, garbage and sewage management, sewage treatment and recycling, Cauvery water supply, metro connectivity expansion, monorail, suburban rail, quality education, slum area development, road widening, elevated corridor, 20 major junction roads, improvement of footpaths, construction of tunnel roads in the city, opening some areas 24/7, parking, control of corruption and suggestions on the conversion of Nice Road into a ring road. When asked if there was a discussion about the creation of a task force for the development of Bengaluru, Shivakumar said, “They advised me about this. I will take a public opinion and then we will take a decision on behalf of the government.”
