Radnyi Tyagraj releases her latest soulful single, Rulaya Kyun

Of the most popular subjects to sing about, perhaps heartbreak caused by unrequited love tops the list. Aware of this, singer and composer Radnyi Tyagraj wrote her latest soulful single, titled ‘Rulaya Kyu,” in Hindi. Released on June 14 and written and performed by Tyagraj in collaboration with Inder D Last Level, this hip-hop, rap, and trap number is sure to catch your attention.
Bearing a strong musical lineage, this indie artist claims that she “inherited her passion for creating soul-stirring melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.” She says, “Rulaya Kyu is a powerful track that delves into the dynamics of a couple’s relationship. The song portrays a girl who confronts her partner, questioning why he never comes for her when she needs him the most. She feels like he has taken her for granted and treated her poorly. The lyrics express her anger and frustration. She demands empathy and compassion, emphasising that even if he feels no love, the least he can do is show some kindness. The girl asserts her self-worth, highlighting that she is not someone to be ignored or treated as a stranger. She questions his lack of humanity and indifference towards her existence. The lyrics also touch upon the fact that she doesn’t care whether she is alive or not, as his actions have made her question the value she holds in his life.”
Through its soulful lyrics and foot-tapping beat, ‘Rulaya Kyu’ packs quite the punch. When asked about the lyrics, Tyagraj responds, “The girl reflects on how she slipped and lost trust in the boy. How he shattered her dreams and how she has erased memories of him from her life She expresses her frustration over the fact that he never comes when she needs him and has never asked about her well-being. She wonders how he can stay away from her so heartlessly and how he can make her cry.”
Tyagraj owes her musical leanings to her father, Tyagraj Khadilkar, who is a renowned singer, having collaborated with esteemed artists and lent his voice to numerous Marathi films and TV shows. Under her father’s guidance, she began her musical journey at a young age, choosing to hone her vocal prowess. The exposure she received at a young age to various genres and her inclination towards experimentation led her to fuse a contemporary sound into the Marathi music of her childhood.
She enjoys embracing unconventional themes that explore subjects like sensuality, desire, and the beauty of both men and women. Her tracks such as ‘Mera Raja’, ‘I Miss You’, and ‘Mohe Tum’ celebrate female sensuality while portraying the complexities of human emotions. Perhaps it is her unique ability to blend traditional and contemporary sounds that has led to her popularity in her chosen medium.
“My independent journey in the music industry has been marked by my constant experimentation and pursuit of a unique sound,” she explains. Her debut indie song, ‘Jogan Ban Gayi,” brought her to the attention of music supervisors at Dharma Productions. Collaborations with renowned artists like rapper Emiway Bantai and her latest Marathi dance track, ‘Trending Zhala’ have only helped her grow her reputation as a versatile artist.
“It has been an amazing journey so far! Acclaimed singer Bpraak shared my latest single, ‘Mohe Tum’, recognising my talent and potential. And even renowned rapper Badshah shared my track ‘Trending Zhala’, showcasing his support for my work and recognising me as a rising star,” she shares with excitement.  Tyagraj asserts that her music draws from personal experiences and emotions, using them as a medium to connect with her audience. Her forthcoming EP titled ‘Feelings’ will explore themes of romance and heartbreak, with tracks like ‘Rulaya Kyu’ highlighting the pain of unrequited love. By openly sharing her own vulnerabilities, Tyagraj hopes to become a voice for those who have experienced similar struggles, creating a sense of solidarity among her listeners.
When asked about her next steps, she says she is keen to go beyond the boundaries of the Indian music industry. She aspires to “win Grammy awards and perform in front of massive crowds, sharing her unique sound and touching the hearts of millions”. Her apparent dedication to her craft and a growing body of impressive work should help her in achieving this goal. One looks forward to seeing her journey ahead.
‘Rulaya kyu’ can be streamed on all major music platforms.
