If given a chance to re-live your college days again what would be your reaction? Yes, you can refresh your memories of college days with Prankster. It is the first F&B campus opened in Gurgaon.
The theme is “back to college”, and the interiors well justify it. The interiors will leave you amused and break the cliché because it projects the life we’ve all lived.
This place is designed in accordance with a college campus; divided into small sections like library, mixology lab, locker room, amphitheater, canteen, classrooms, lovers point, hostels and parking lot. As you enter from the back gate first you will cross the library, which is quite fascinating. There is a chandelier done with open books.
The 35 feet long bar is a locker room, which is just opposite the canteen and adjacent to the amphitheater. In the corner is the mixology lab, which transports you to your chemistry lab. Test tubes, a wall with the periodic table and experiment counter with taps will leave you amazed. The hostel areas have bunker beds. The parking lot has an open jeep, a Chinese food truck and a fleet of colorful scooters outside turned into a sitting area.
Lets move to the main matter: food. The dishes will either bemuse you into a state of Nostalgia or provide you with a modern twist. We were welcomed with amuse-gueule Nitro cooked DahiBhalla. A bed of roomalisev with 20-degree papdi, where molecular gastronomy is used to give a quirky twist. The topping of tamarind and green chutney gave savory taste rather than sweet.
Next item I tried was Sambhar Cappuccino. Yes! You heard that right! A thick sambhar presented in the form of a soup with foam and Cappuccino temperature, served along with dehydrated dosapapad – the flavours will take you back to your grand nani days. Than we tried PaoBhaji Zinker Burger with Maharashtrian garlic chutney, which was pretty much like anyother spicy burger.
Lets talk about non-vegetarian now; there is variety to try. We started with Imly glazed Kung pao chicken served with coconut foam. The meat was tender, spicy with a pinch of an Indian desi taste. Another mind boggling dish was Tempura prawns with milagai position, white meat is not an easy meat to cock, so considering that the meat was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside the taste was amazing, not spicy but absolutely finger lickin’ good. Overall the presentation of the food was authentic.
Lamb lovers could have TT lamb chops, which were tender and juicy, the selection of meat pieces was nice and the taste was on the spicier side.
The endnote of the delightful night was rose kheer, which really left me nostalgia, took me back to my childhood and the way they presented the kheer was like a trick done by a magician. To know the trick you have to visit the same.
