Geek Empire: Nexus 6P

By Huawei
Rs 39,999
The new Nexus 6P is the most premium product of the Nexus lineup that has always tried to provide users with the best value-for-money Android experience on a smartphone. Developed following a partnership between Google and Huawei, the phone is clad in aeronautical-grade aluminium, which for the layman equates to stronger and lighter. It’s roughly the size of an iPhone 6s  Plus, but still boasts a bigger screen size. The high-pixel camera performs well in low-light conditions, and you also get a fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone at the touch of a finger.

Fabence

Android & iOS app
Free
Fabence is a shopping app that makes buying clothes online (even) easier. Fabence brings together all the options from sites you’re likely to visit — Myntra, Flipkart, Forever 21, Snapdeal — in one place. Just open the app, pick the styles that suit you, and go through suggestions to sift through the clutter and find the best deals. Without it sorting through various sites, the process of finding the right bargain for the thing you want to buy can be a nightmare.

Slide Brace-X1 Mini

By iBall
Rs 12,999
This tablet from iBall comes with a solid spine. Much like a magazine (remember those?), the tablet has a side that’s circular and, thus, easy to grip. It comes packed with all standard features including a 5,200 mAh battery, 1 GB RAM, dual SIM ports, 8 MP back and 5 MP front camera and 16 GB of internal storage. The A7 processor is a good fit, complementing the configuration, but it runs an older version of Android — the Kitkat. With a sharp enough screen, the tablet can be a good multimedia and reading companion. However, without the Lollipop update, it lacks justification for the price.

SkyView

Android & iOS app
Rs 120
Want to flaunt your make-believe astronomy skills to impress people? Just install SkyView and point the phone camera to the sky (in the evening, preferably with stars visible). The app immediately figures out the constellation it’s being directed at. It keeps you updated on upcoming  space sightings, so that you don’t miss out on the next blue moon, and also works without mobile network for when you’re stuck in the wilderness.
