Appointment of Chief Justices for 7 HCs

The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Chief Justices for several High Courts, including Meghalaya, Allahabad, Gauhati, Orissa, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Punjab and Haryana.
The notification for Meghalaya High Court specified that, in the exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Justice S. Vaidyanathan, currently serving as a Judge of the Madras High Court, to assume the role of Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, effective from the date he assumes charge.
For Allahabad High Court, the notification indicated that, exercising powers under clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Justice Arun Bhansali, a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, with effect from the date he takes charge.
Regarding the Gauhati High Court, the notification declared that, by virtue of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Justice Vijay Bishnoi, currently serving as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, effective from the date he assumes office.
The Centre also notified the appointment of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, a sitting Judge of the Patna High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. Additionally, the notification mentioned Justice Ritu Bahri, a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
In a separate notification for the Rajasthan High Court, it was specified that Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, a current Judge of the Rajasthan High Court, would assume the responsibilities of the Chief Justice.
Regarding the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the notification stated that, in the exercise of powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to perform the duties of the Chief Justice. This appointment takes effect from the date Justice Ritu Bahri relinquishes the charge of Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, following her elevation as Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
The recent resolution by the Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and Justice BR Gavai, recommended these judges for appointment as Chief Justices in their respective high courts.
