The NIA has taken over the custody of five accused persons arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police in connection with the escape of Lashkar commander Naveed Jatt from SMHS hospital of Srinagar. The NIA got two day transit remand of the five accused persons from a local Court in Srinagar.
The police said that have come to Srinagar and have taken over the investigation of the case from them. A senior police officer told this reporter that they have given them the detailed interrogation report of the five accused persons and they were also helping them in documentation. The five accused persons are Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, Tika Khan, Syed Tajam-ul Islam, Muhammad Shafi Wani and Jan Muahmmad Ganai, have confessed to the crime, claimed police.Reports said that after the NIA got the transit remand, the five accused persons will be produced before a special NIA Court and further steps would be taken. Naveed Jatt was a big catch for the security agencies when they arrested him in 2014 from Kulgam. He was lodged in a high security Srinagar Central Jail. Reports said that the NIA was handed over the case as the intelligence agencies believe that many officials at different levels helped in the escape of the Naveed.
