We must think before we act

opinionWe must think before we act
The physical Laws of Motion say action and reaction are equal and opposite. The principle holds for average human behaviour too. If we shout at a person, we can expect an equally severe action in return. However, when science reaches the rarefied world of quantum physics, the hitherto accepted laws no longer apply. The same is true of a transition into a spiritual dimension. In daily life, anger and violence would beget the same in return, but along comes a Gandhi, who smiles and instead turns the other cheek.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib mentions that the reactions of the evolved soul are different:
Says Nanak, the daily conduct of the devoted,
each and every time, is unique and distinct.
In 1491 AD, Guru Nanak went into a long silence. A worried father summoned the local vaid(doctor). A normal occurrence in a normal life, but Guru Nanak speaks of this meeting:
The doctor was called, he touched my arm and felt my pulse.
The simple doctor did not know that the pain is not in the body, but in the mind.
(I requested) Administer that medicine, which will cause peace to dwell in the body.
You will be a true Vaid only when you recognise and rid yourself of your own inner disease.
The roles had reversed, and the patient had instead become the doctor!
The lifestyle of the devotees is unique and distinct.
Not just unique and distinct; they follow the most difficult path.
They renounce greed, avarice, egotism and desire; they do not talk too much.
The path they take is sharper than a double-edged sword, and finer than a hair.
The lives of apostles exhibit unique reactions to daily situations. Their conduct reveals that the fountain of all thought and action came from deep within.
