J&K governor asks PDP, BJP to clear stand on government formation

Jammu and Kashmir governor N.N. Vohra has asked both People’s Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party to clarify their respective positions on the issue of government formation by Tuesday. The governor’s instruction comes at a time when the state is in a political uncertainty with the PDP giving no hints whether it wants to continue its alliance with the BJP.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti had held a meeting of party leaders in Srinagar on Sunday. She had said that BJP will have to walk the talk to implement the “agenda of alliance”, and that her party will stake claim for government formation only after that.
Senior state BJP leader told this newspaper that PDP was resorting to political coercion and no fresh demands would be entertained.
