The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar will open on Monday following its brief closure on Friday after two groups of students clashed on campus over India’s loss in the semi final match of the T20 world cup. Earlier, NIT Srinagar had been closed indefinitely by the authorities. Police said that the closure of the institute was the result of celebrations by one group of students over the win of West Indies in the semi-final match.
Police said that these celebrations did not go well with other group of students who on Friday raised anti Pakistan slogans and indulged in violence. The institute’s management told the media that they will initiate a probe into the entire incident and will fix responsibility.
