Quota stayed, Jats to hit the road on 5 June

Haryana’s Jat reservation bill has got stuck at the very first step on what was always going to be its tough test of judicial scrutiny. This has the Jats in arms yet again and they have decided to hit the streets from 5 June to press the Manohar Lal Khattar government to accept their demands. “We can’t protest against the court’s orders, but clearly we feel betrayed by the Khattar government,” Yashpal Malik, All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti chief, said. “The government advocate sat like a mute spectator in the court. He appeared to be under someone’s instructions because the government was aware that the case was coming up,” Malik said. The government, he said, has assured the Jats that they would take up this matter with the court on Monday itself though the case is listed for 21 July.
