Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has started a bitter war with the BJP over Kashmir, stressing that Pakistan has no role in the recent violence. He has asked New Delhi to understand the sentiments of the people on the streets.
The war of words turned bitter when BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav said that Omar was batting for Pakistan and terrorists. Omar had remarked some Central ministers were trying to provoke Pakistan post-surgical strikes by their silly statements. He said that they were basically inviting death and destruction for the border residents of Jammu and Kashmir, blaming them also for provoking Pakistan for shelling.
Madhav also questioned the relevance of the UN Military Observers Office in Srinagar after the separatists gave a call to the people to march to that office on Saturday. The separatists, though they gave three days’ continuous relaxation in their latest protest calendar, have asked the people to take part in the UN march to hand over a memorandum to the military observers there for the right to self-determination. Madhav suggested shifting of the UN office from Srinagar to any other part of the country, arguing Pakistan has the Military Observers Office in Rawalpindi, away from PoK. The suggestion did not go down well with Omar, who tweeted: “Jenab, not to put too fine a point on it but please correct what we failed to do in that case as you are in power in Centre and in the state.”
