This New start-up focuses on Offline Retail

The IT capital of the world is known for several path breaking enterprises. Bengaluru is home to several E-commerce companies who are busy wooing the customers to shop online. A little away from the Online retailing giants , a Bengaluru based start-up “ShopsUp”, a location-based shopping app is busy adopting “disruptive technologies” to draw tech savvy youth to Offline “Brick and mortar” Retail stores. The app offers exciting features for consumers to discover exciting boutique stores around their neighborhood as well as stores at popular malls and shopping streets including big international brands.

Targeting the reach of the smart phones, the app uses mobile as a platform to provide its brand and retail partners access to a consumer’s decision and incentivizes the shoppers. At the same time walk-ins at retail partners, shopping at retail partners earn shots (points). The shots can be instantly redeemed for a free movie ticket, cab ride, spa, gift vouchers and more. ShopsUp has also partnered with Uber for exclusive offers for users to take rides for their shopping runs.

“Indians want to be rewarded for their window shopping as well as actual shopping behavior and marketers want to capture these moments as and when they happen. ShopsUp’s innovative technology and use of analytics allows us to partner with top brands and local boutiques and provide them with customized solutions that dramatically differ from existing options” feels Suhas Gopinath.

According to IBEF, India’s retail market is pegged at USD 672 billion and growing at 25% Year-on-Year. information. This integration of physical aspect of shopping combined with digital platform will be key inflection point for modern Indian retail sector that is poised to grow and the young entrepreneur has already set his sights to disrupt the E-Commerce Retail module.
