NewsAAP launches ‘doorstep’ campaign for Delhi elections

NEW DELHI: AAP has planned a series of outreach programs prior to the Assembly polls for connecting with the voters directly, as they aim for a third consecutive victory in the Delhi Assembly.

The Delhi government, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has begun preparations for the upcoming Assembly election scheduled for February-March 2025. In Kejriwal’s absence, senior party leaders have launched the “AAP Ka Vidhayak, Aapke Dwaar” campaign, aiming for a third consecutive victory in the Delhi Assembly.

Earlier this week, in the absence of the party’s national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, senior leaders held a meeting to finalise the roadmap for the upcoming elections in the national capital. A source within the party said that the leaders discussed the strategy for contesting the elections. The meeting included detailed discussions on governance, the current political scenario in each Assembly constituency, and an overall assessment of the political landscape. The party also plans to intensify its campaign efforts in the coming days as part of their preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls.
To implement their strategy, AAP has decided to launch the “AAP Ka Vidhayak, Aapke Dwaar” campaign.

This initiative is part of a larger series of outreach programs planned by the party in the lead-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, expected in February 2025. “Through this campaign, our MLAs will connect directly with voters,” a party source revealed.
The campaign is set to kick off on Sunday, September 1, 2024. “Our MLAs will hold meetings at the Mandal and booth levels to discuss the government’s achievements and expose how BJP is conspiring against the
people of Delhi.

As the campaign progresses, we will gradually increase its intensity,” stated AAP senior leader Sandeep Pathak.
Pathak further criticised BJP, accusing them of obstructing the Delhi government’s work and engaging in dirty politics. He emphasised that the people of Delhi have placed their trust in Arvind Kejriwal, and the party is committed to upholding that trust. “Our strength lies in the support of the people, the work we’ve done for them, and the trust they have in us,” he added.

A political analyst closely monitoring Delhi politics said that AAP achieved consecutive Assembly election victories in 2015 and 2020, securing 67 and 62 seats, respectively. However, the 2025 Assembly elections will pose a significant challenge, especially with their key leader, Arvind Kejriwal, still in jail. In his absence, the party is heavily reliant on senior leaders like Manish Sisodia, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Sanjay Singh. Despite this, only Sisodia and Chadha have strong grassroots connections with voters, making it crucial for the party to engage with Delhi’s citiz‑ens through various campaign strategies in Kejriwal’s absence. The analyst further noted that Manish Sisodia will play a pivotal role in mobilising the party’s base, coordinating campaign strategies, and ensuring that AAP’s message resonates with voters if they are to achieve their goals.
