The party seeks to set ‘Modi vs Rahul’ narrative in upcoming polls.
The BJP has revealed its strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections. The saffron party will fight the polls on the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party will also showcase achievements of the Modi government in nine years.
The party will use the Modi government’s achievements also to prepare ground for the next year’s Lok Sabha elections during the Assembly poll campaign. The BJP has prepared a long list of achievements of the central government, like what the government has done for the improvement of condition of farmers and the poor. The other issues which have been finalised include corruption, abrogation of Article 370, Kashmir, dynastic politics, Ram Temple and Hindutva.
The BJP will try to set the “Narendra Modi versus Rahul Gandhi” narrative. Sources say that BJP may also promise reducing gas cylinder prices and waiving power bills. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is said to have prepared strategy on this line.
In fact, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech at Udaipur in Rajasthan gave a flavour of BJP’s strategy for the upcoming polls. After Rajnath Singh’s public meeting, the BJP’s internal tussle resurfaced on the dais during the rally of Amit Shah also. However, Amit Shah amply signalled that PM Modi will be the face during the polls. It was clear that senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje will not be the CM candidate. However, Shah signalled that Raje will be given due respect in the party. She was allowed to speak after Shah’s consent. Raje focused on the achievements of the Modi government and targeted Congress over various issues.
Shah made it clear that the party will seek votes on achievements of the Modi government, like toilets, Ujjwala, free ration, powerful foreign policy, etc. The Opposition will be cornered over the issue of abrogation of Article 370 and Kashmir. The BJP will explain how the country is safe due to the Modi government’s strong action against terrorism. The party will remind the voters of the bold decisions like surgical strike.
PM Modi has already termed the Opposition’s alliance as an alliance of corrupt leaders. So the BJP will hit out at the Opposition over corruption issues. The Opposition will also be targeted over family politics. The party will raise the Kanhaiyalal murder case and the Jaipur riots in a bid to give the angle of Hindutva politics to the campaign. Women empowerment and law and order will also be major issues. The same strategy will be adopted for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh also.
