Civic bodies made arrangements to ensure disposal of flags

NewsCivic bodies made arrangements to ensure disposal of flags

Civic bodies in Delhi had made arrangements to ensure proper and graceful disposal of the Tricolour flags and religious flags across the city, which were used during the Republic Day celebration and at the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram on January 22.
“These flags will either be gracefully disposed of or they will be donated to temples for re-use,” said NDMC vice chairperson Satish Upadhyay.

The NDMC asked all resident welfare associations (RWA), market traders associations, and religious and educational institutions in the NDMC’s 14 zones to deposit these flags at the offices of their respective sanitary inspectors. NDMC vice chairperson Satish Upadhaya told The Sunday Guardian that individuals who wish to deposit these flags can call the central helpline number, 1533, or lodge a request on the NDMC’s 311 app.
“Sanitation staff has also been directed to ensure that proper protocol is followed while collecting and disposing of the National Flag as per the Flag Code. Similarly, for the Ram Dhwaj, staff has been directed to ensure proper procedure for collection and disposal,” said Upadhaya.

On the other hand, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has appointed nodal officials in its 12 zones for the proper and graceful disposal of national and religious flags in consequence of the Pran Pratishtha Ceremony of Lord Ram at Ayodhya and the Republic Day celebration in Delhi.

An MCD officer said, “To avoid disrespect to the national and religious flags, MCD has appointed nodal officials in its zones for the proper and graceful disposal of the national and religious flags. Accordingly, all RWAs, MTAs, institutions, and the public are requested to deposit these flags at the Sanitary Inspector office or identified locations in their respective areas.”
