The Congress uses religion as a tool for political gains, and while leaders of that party refuse to visit the Ram Temple but have no hesitation in offering namaz on the road, said Smriti Irani, Union Women and Child Development Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Amethi at the India News Manch 2023 conclave hosted by the ITV Network.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s “eagerness” to get an invite for the Ram Temple inauguration on 22 January, she said, “A person who saw terror in Hindutva is looking for an invitation for the Ram Temple event.” She also slammed the Congress and its first family for ignoring the welfare of the people in Amethi. “I don’t know if the BJP parliamentary board will give me the ticket to contest again from Amethi, but I am very confident that the party’s Lotus will bloom there,” she said.
The minister also hailed the abrogation of Article 370 and the subsequent endorsement of the issue by the Supreme Court. “Modi hai to mumkin hai,” she said, pointing to the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the removal of Article 370. Smriti Irani also slammed the Congress party for creating a false narrative. She added, “Congress had done their entire politics in terms of caste and religion, and now they are making a false narrative by saying north-south and trying to divide the country in terms of geographical difference.”
She also said that during the UPA government, “Rahul Gandhi said he got scared of Hindu terrorism, and now they are making an alliance with the parties that are commenting against Sanatan.” She mentioned that the party that always neglected the existence of Lord Ram is now demanding an invitation to the inaugural ceremony of the Ram Temple, which shows their dual nature.
