NEW DELHI

A major crackdown against illegal casinos in Chattarpur by Delhi police resulted in the arrest of five people. They were running an illegal casino in a farmhouse in Dera village in south Delhi. Also, the police recovered cash worth approximately Rs 8 lakh, and illegal liquor was also seized.

In all, 47 people have been involved in this illegal act. The police arrested five main accusers including Amit Kumar (39), Satendra Sehgal (29), Sahil Gujral (35), Tejinder Singh (37), and Mithun Taneja (37).

The Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch Ravinder Singh Yadav, said they were running this illegal casino on a rented farmhouse, and for taking entries, a passcode “Guruji” was used by them. Most of their customers were known, and they contacted them through WhatsApp.

According to the police, they received input from this casino, and a raid was conducted. During the search operation, cash and illegal liquor from a sale in Haryana were also recovered. The police officials said that the accused wanted to earn quick money, and through this, they were generating huge profits.
Furthermore, they made eight people sit at one time at the casino table, and playing cards for teen Patti were distributed to the players. Whoever had the highest number was declared the winner, and they used to take tokens lying on the table. These tokens were then converted into cash the next day at a given location communicated through WhatsApp. Also, to attract players, they hired girls to drink. The police found around 20 girls during the raid. They were hired by the organiser. The alcohol recovered was also illegal as it was served outside Haryana when it was meant purely for sale in Haryana. Since alcohol prices in Gurugram are cheaper, many people from Delhi buy alcohol there.
