Harish Rao doesn’t have a contest in hand as no strong candidates have been put up against him.

NEW DELHI

Telangana’s ruling party finance minister and six-time MLA T. Harish Rao is contesting one more time from Siddipet. The nephew of K. Chandrasekhar Rao doesn’t have a contest in hand as no strong candidates have been put up against him. According to political analysts, Rao will not only get a large number of votes because he is the only big leader, but also due to the fact that the Siddipet constituency is well-developed, the city’s smooth highways are lined by contemporary structures that include supermarkets, a large government hospital, integrated office complexes, showrooms with global brands, supermarkets, and a mini stadium-sports complex.
A majority of people in the constituency see him as their only leader as they believe that he has tried to develop the constituency and is available for his constituency people.
The founding member of the TRS has never lost an election. Ever since taking the reins of Siddipet, which is the citadel of the TRS, Rao has won with a huge majority. In certain elections, he has even made sure that his rivals have forfeited their deposits. In the 2018 Assembly polls, this senior politician retained his Siddipet seat by securing a staggering 1,31,295 lakh votes.

His nearest rival from the Telangana Jana Samithi secured just 12,596 votes, not even 10% of Harish Rao’s total; he won with a margin of 1,18,699 votes. Similarly, in 2014,

Thanneeru Harish Rao won by 1,08,699 votes defeating Taduri Srinivas Goud of the INC by a margin of 93,328 votes. At the age of 32, he started contesting and won the first Assembly elections and since then, he’s cemented his position in the constituency as a formidable and undefeated politician of Telangana. He was inducted into the Cabinet in 2014 as a Minister of Irrigation.

Siddipet is one of the 119 Legislative Assembly constituencies in Telangana and is part of the Medak Lok Sabha Constituency in the Siddipet district and North Telangana region of the state.
Categorized as a “rural” seat, according to data, it has a total of 1,91,936 eligible voters including 96,118 male and 95,799 female voters.
