Opportunistic Alliance between ideologically different AAP and Cong: Sehrawat

NewsOpportunistic Alliance between ideologically different AAP and Cong: Sehrawat

Greenhorn West Delhi BJP candidate Kamaljeet Sehrawat is confident of her victory with a huge margin.

All political parties have intensified their electioneering following announcement of Lok Sabha poll schedule by election commission on March 16. The candidates declared by various political parties have also begun their campaigning in their respective constituencies. So is the case with Kamaljeet Sehrawat, who is BJP candidate from West Delhi seat. The greenhorn, Kamaljeet Sehrawat started her campaign earlier this week amid chanting of slogans ‘Apki baar 400 paar’ and ‘Fir ek baar Modi sarkar’. She seemed fully confident of her victory with a huge margin during her interaction with The Sunday Guardian.

Q: You are contesting Lok Sabha election for the first time. How are you preparing for it?

A: I admit that I am contesting Lok Sabha election for the first time, but I am not new to politics. I have a lot of experience in organisational skills, as I worked as a secretary three times and was a councillor from 2017 to 2022. So I have a lot of experience working in the field as well. I also remained mayor also and my tenure as mayor was for two years. So I have understood a lot during my work. So, politics is not a new field for me.

Q: How do you see AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi?

A: They are the opportunists. They are ideologically different, as they are saying. We are not saying. They were cursing each other before the elections. We will not forget that point when Kejriwal was saying that he has a diary, which includes the scams and other things about Sheila Dikshit and when he would be CM of Delhi, he will catch her and put her behind bars but now they are in an alliance. So, it means there is no ideology for them. They are just opportunists and contesting the election just for their existence.

Q: On what agenda, you are contesting this election?

A: See, Modiji has done a lot of work for all the sections, which you can call as Dalits, poor and labourers. He has introduced so many schemes. He also introduced Ayushman Bharat in the entire country, but it has not been introduced in Delhi because Delhi CM Kejriwal has not given permission. Delhi is suffering from traffic jams and pollution. And for that, you need a metro bus service. There is an urgent need to start electric buses in Delhi but Delhi’s AAP government has not worked on that. Twelve hundred electric buses have been given by the centre to Delhi government, as he hasn’t bought any in the last seven years.

Even he is creating problems while giving funds for construction of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). I hope you remember that the Supreme Court told AAP government that you have funds to advertise and other things but you don’t have the funds for RRTS. So at that time, he gave the funds. On the other hand, Modiji did a lot of things for Delhi, like the urban extension project for roads which will connect Delhi to another parts of the country.

Dwarka expressway, which will connect Delhi to Gurugram. The fourteen-lane express highway is a lifeline for West Delhi and Gurugram. Furthermore, a lot of work is in the planning stage. Delhiites are well aware of the work done by the Modi government. So definitely, they will go with us.

Q: You were mayor from South Delhi. How you will use that experience for electioneering now?

A: Yes, obviously, it is going to give me a lot of comfort zone during campaigning. As I know how to work. How to prepare the project. How to make them pass. And how to get them budget allocation. So this experience will help me. I can go to the people. So I can connect with the people. I can go by the projects. Which are lacking right now. And I can go for them.

Q: What are your future plans for West Delhi constituency from where you are contesting?

A: We will start working in the rural areas. Even LG has started that work. Around 840 crores were lying with Delhi government. Earlier, it was Congress. And since 2012, it’s been with the Aam Aadmi Party. Since then, this money has not been utilised by Delhi government for the development of villages. LG has now transferred this fund to DDA. Plus, 400 crores were given by the central government. That money will be used for the development of the rural areas. If we talk about Dwarka, LG sir is giving a lot of attention to Dwarka stadium, urban golf course road and bharat darshan park. There are so many facilities. The centre has also introduced the scheme of P.M UDAY, beneficiaries include self – help group. Similarly, Rs. one lakh loan is provided under Vishwakarma Yojana to the 18 categories. So, there are a lot of things that Modiji will do in the coming time for Delhi especially for Western Delhi.

Q: How will Modi’s guarantee help BJP in Delhi in this election?

A: Like I told you about Vishwakarma Yojana for 18 categories, which is doing its work on the lower level. Modiji, as a guarantor, takes the guarantee while giving them a loan. Starting at 1 lakh per person ‘SVANidhi’ to ‘rehri-patriwala’. He has fulfilled all the promises including abolition of Article 370, 35 A, construction of a grand Ram temple made by him in the last 10 years. Further, his vision for the next five years will definitely help us win all seven seats with a huge margin in Delhi.
