After Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s Wednesday visit to Rajouri and Poonch with a message that there would be justice with the families who have lost their dear ones after allegedly getting killed in custody, BJP leaders from Jammu have also visited these families in order to assuage their feelings.

After an attack on Army vehicles in Poonch district recently in which four soldiers were killed, many civilians were arrested by the Army. Three of them died in custody, while some others are battling with their lives in hospital. Army and security forces have called off the operation to track down the terrorists who were responsible for the attack on the two Army vehicles in Poonch in which four soldiers were killed and several others were injured.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited the injured civilians in the hospital and assured them that there would be justice with all the innocent civilians. The Army has ordered a formal inquiry into this incident and after the Army Chief’s visit, the commander of the brigade and three other Army officers have been removed and have been told to join the inquiry.

Rajnath Singh addressed the Army troops in the Rajouri-Poonch belt and gave a message that innocent civilians should not be hurt in the counter insurgency operations.
In order to assuage the feelings of Gujar and Bakerwal communities of Jammu region, J&K BJP state unit chief Ravinder Raina and the Gujar leader Ghulam Ali who was recently nominated to Rajya Sabha by BJP visited the families of the three civilians who were killed allegedly in custody. Raina told the media after his visit that the guilty would be given punishment and such incidents cannot be tolerated. It is in place to mention that in the past seven months, more than 20 soldiers including officers and Special Forces commandos were killed in terror attacks in the twin districts of Poonch
and Rajouri.
