BJP launches outreach plan after getting negative feedback from some states

Top 5BJP launches outreach plan after getting negative feedback from some states

NEW DELHI: The month-long outreach programme to mark the nine years of the Narendra Modi government was necessitated after the Bharatiya Janata Party received feedback from various states about a disconnect between the people and BJP leaders.
The message was that all the good work being done by the Modi government was not always percolating to the booth level.
To correct this ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and to initiate a mass outreach programme right from the Lok Sabha level to the booth level, the BJP launched this month-long programme to connect with people across the country. The idea is not only to convey to the people the achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, but also to build and establish a cordial relationship between the booth workers of the party and the electors, BJP leaders said.
“Feedback from various states was received that the work by the Narendra Modi government was in many states being marketed as work done by the state government; people were not being made aware of the programmes of the Modi government. There are also reports that several MPs and many MLAs of the party have lost their connection with the people. Before the Lok Sabha elections, it is crucial to establish a people to people connect for the party so that they are aware of our leaders and their achievements,” a senior BJP functionary told The Sunday Guardian.
The BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections won 303 out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats and sources in the party say that the feedback from the ground has given them the indication that this number could reduce in the Lok Sabha elections and therefore it is necessary for the party to undertake this massive outreach programme to connect with the people and bring to light the achievements of the Modi government.
“It is imperative on the party to start working towards the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from now on and what best could be an occasion when the Modi-led government is completing nine years of effective governance at the Centre? This election will not be an easy election as the government has gathered some sort of anti-incumbency in the last nine years and the party will have to counter it effectively. This abhiyaan will activate our 20 lakh plus full time karyakartas (workers) across the country who will be working on the ground and reaching out to the people for the next one year. The MPs and MLAs of the party have also been asked to increase their connect with the people and make themselves available for the people in their constituencies,” another BJP functionary told this newspaper.
Starting 30 May, the BJP will begin this month-long programme “Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan” where all its karyakartas will fan out to all the 543 Lok Sabha seats across the country. All the BJP MPs will take to their respective constituencies and hold meetings with eminent personalities in their Lok Sabha constituencies, while the MLAs will meet the voters to establish people to people connect for the party.
Several small and big programmes have been planned by the party until 30 June, where party workers will meet and explain to the people about the achievements of the Modi government at the Centre. Booth level connect led by mandal presidents will also be carried out for door to door campaigns across the country.
Sources in the BJP said that the party workers have been handed over brochures, pamphlets and other advertising material detailing the work of the Modi government at the Centre. Party workers have also been asked to carry the message of India as a “Vishwa Guru” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership at the Centre.
Works like Ujawala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, free ration scheme, Swachh Bharat mission, farmer incentives and benefit schemes, Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushmaan Bharat Yojana, amongst other such plethora of schemes launched by the BJP government will be communicated to the people of the country.
The BJP is also reaching out to the media and has already begun a series of consultations with media groups from across the country. Party leaders have been instructed to meet influential families and social workers to garner their support in favour of the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
