CHANDIGARH: After their repeated attempts to launch Delhi-Chalo March were foiled by the Haryana police, farmer leaders associated with Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have again announced to send a Jatha (group) of 101 farmers to launch the Delhi March on January 21 from the Shambhu border.

This was announced by the farmer leader Sarvan Singh Pandher during an interaction with the media persons at the Shambhu border. Requesting the farmers of to get united Pandher said that the agitation to continue until they force the government to accept the pending demands of the farmers and enact a law to guarantee the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all crops.

The call was given ahead of a crucial meeting between the leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) Kisan Mazdoor Morcha was scheduled with the leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) was scheduled for January 18 as leaders of both the forums in their first meeting had already agreed for a joint agitation saying that their demands were common. Also leaders of both the forums have already announced countrywide tractor march on January 26 to mark the anniversary of 2020-21 farmers agitation.

Soon after the announcement made by the farmer leaders authorities in Haryana have been put on alert as the attempt to launch Delhi March may led to the confrontation between the farmers and Haryana police. This is the fourth such call for Delhi March has been given by the SKM (NP) and KMM leaders since their protest march to Delhi was halted by Haryana police on February 13 last year.

The latest attempt to send a Jatha of 101 farmers towards Delhi was made on December 6, invoking a sharp response from Haryana police as the Shambhu-Border point between Punjab and Haryana witnessed high voltage drama for several hours as the Haryana police managed to foiled the attempt of farmers to cross barricades by using tear gas shells and mild force.
