New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s recent statement about ruling out an alliance for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. On Monday, Dikshit asserted that the Delhi Congress would not align with a party responsible for what he described as the city’s decline over the past decade.

Speaking to the media, Dikshit said, “The Delhi Congress never intended to form an alliance, particularly with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). We had already made it clear that no alliance would happen, and perhaps AAP has now come to terms with that. Delhi’s reputation has suffered due to AAP’s governance. As a party committed to serving the people, we cannot align with those who have caused such harm to the city. Congress has always prioritized the public’s interest and cannot partner with a party that has failed Delhi.”

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Udit Raj also questioned Kejriwal’s remarks, pointing out that the issue of an alliance had already been settled. Raj stated, “When Congress’ Delhi Unit President Devender Yadav has categorically declared that there will be no alliance, why is Kejriwal bringing it up again? It suggests that AAP is feeling the pressure and wants to create an impression that Congress might compromise. Once this has been clarified, there should be no further discussion.”

Kejriwal had reiterated on Sunday that AAP would contest the Delhi elections independently. “There will be no alliance in Delhi (for the assembly elections),” he said during a press conference. Meanwhile, UPSC coach Awadh Ojha officially joined AAP on Monday in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal and party leader Manish Sisodia.
