As the nation witness continuos tussle followed by regular disruptions in the ongoing winter parliamentary session, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organised it’s annual ‘Saansad Sampark Abhiyan’ from December 2 to 20.

The annual Abhiyan by the VHP which ran during the winters session or Parliament discussed several issues related to Hindu Society.

Addressing a press conference at New Delhi on Thursday, VHP Secretary General Bajrang Bagda said that “so far we’ve contacted more than 360 MPs under this annual Saansad Sampark Abhiyan.”

During this campaign, Karyakartas from different states, languages and sects from across the country discussed with the MPs the “topics of liberation of temples from government control, Waqf Amendment Bill and extending the privileges given to minorities under Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution, to the Hindu society as well”, he said.

This year’s programme was organized from 2 to 20 December.

In its first phase from 2 to 6 December, Karyakartas from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Maharashtra contacted a total of 114 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs.

In the second phase from 9 to 13 December, Karyakartas from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir contacted a total of 139 MPs of these states.

The third and final phase of the campaign began from 16 December.

On the number of MPs VHPs met from the opposition side, Bajrang Bagda said that “Till now, we’ve met 221 BJP MPs and the remaining from the opposition side. We have also met many Muslim MPs from Congress, TMC, Samajwadi Party and others who agreed that Hindu temples should be handed over to the Hindu society but shared different views on Waqf Amendment Bill.”

“We also requested to meet Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi but did not recieve any response from them”, he said.
